An Abundance of Golf at the Ambassador Hotel!

The Ambassador Hotel is ideal accommodation for a golfing trip as it is located just over a mile from the heart of Glasgow city centre and has a great selection of golf courses all within a twenty minute drive.

Glasgow Golf Club, Douglas Park Golf club and Haggs Castle Golf Club are all 10, 12 and 13 minutes away from the Ambassador Hotel respectively. These courses being so close are not just run of the mill courses. The Glasgow Golf Club is the 9th oldest golf club in the world and also Haggs Castle Golf Club has previously hosted the Scottish open on the European tour. The last of the local courses (only 18 minutes away) is Balmore Golf Course, which was designed by six-time British Open Champion Harry Vardon.

If a course with more prestige is the goal, Scotland’s British Open hosting courses can still be reached from the Ambassador Hotel. The Open has been held at The Royal Troon nine times and is only 45 minutes away. Turnberry has played host four times and is 1 hour 30 minutes away.

St Andrews Old Course, the home of golf 600 years ago, where the British open is played every 5 years is worth the 1 hour and 45 minute journey just for the experience even if not for a round of golf. Carnoustie Golf Club is the last of the Scottish venues that host the British Open and has done so eight times since 1931. The trip would take just under 2 hours to visit this classic course. Continuing the theme of classic courses, the multiple courses at the Gleneagles Hotel are less than an hour away from the Ambassador.
