David- Meet The New Manager

David – Meet Our New Manager!

In March 2019, we introduced David to the Ambassador Hotel crew and he’s been surpassing our expectations ever since! David set his career in motion working as a chef before making his way into the hotel field. He approaches his front of house role with great gusto and professionalism and his he is very popular with our guests due to his friendly personality. We are thrilled he joined us as our hotel manager as he has a great attitude and is dedicated to giving his all to ensure your stay with us has that extra bit of sparkle. Pop into reception to meet him and ask any questions you may have about your stay and take advantage of his recommendations and local knowledge.

Hey David, how are you today? – Hi, not too bad, thanks!

How long have you worked at The Ambassador Hotel? – I’ve worked at the Ambassador for around 4 months now.

Why did you decide on a career in hospitality? – I always had a passing interest in cooking as a hobby, and decided I’d turn it into a job. I applied to any kitchen that would take on a chef with no experience, and from there I worked my way up the ladder in professional kitchens for ten years before turning my hand to hotel work. So I suppose it’s been a natural progression. Prior to hotel work, I was a chef for ten years, mainly in the highlands, working for the likes of Kinloch Lodge and Mingarry Park.

So, what’s your favourite part of being Manager at the Ambassador Hotel? – Having the opportunity to show our guests good, Glaswegian hospitality, and directing them to some of Glasgow’s great sights is a real privilege.

Can you describe your daily tasks? – My tasks at the Ambassador are varied, ranging from check-ins and -outs, daily administration work, concierge duties, serving breakfast – every day is a wee bit different!

What do you do in your free time? – In my spare time I love to paint, play the guitar and go out to eat with friends at some of Glasgow’s best restaurants.

What’s your absolute must-see for visitors to the city? – A trip to Glasgow is never complete without a visit to the Kelvingrove Gallery & Museum, the Clydeside Distillery for a wee dram, and Tantrum Doughnuts for some of the best sweet treats in the world.

What does excellent guest service mean to you?– To me, excellent guest service is working to ensure that every aspect of a guest’s visit to Glasgow is superlative. From the cleanliness of our rooms, to the location of our hotels, through to having helpful & friendly interactions with all of our staff here at the Ambassador.
