Glasgow On A Budget

Glasgow on A Budget

Coming to a UK city on holiday can quickly become a fairly expensive venture. With pound stirling still a fairly strong currency, a lot of our international visitors really feel the pinch on their purse strings when they discover the cost of holidaying here. At the Ambassador Hotel we run regular discount deals (check out our blogs pages for this month’s offer), making your stay a little more affordable. To really help you out though we’ve put together a hit list of things to see, do and utilize to give you a few extra pennies in your pocket.

Grab a Voucher

The Ambassador Hotel has a close relationship with various tourist attraction providers throughout the city. One of the most popular requests from our guests is for a city sightseeing tour. It’s the perfect way to see Glasgow’s highlights and we’re happy to provide those staying at our residence with money-off vouchers to keep costs to a minimum. You can also visit the Scottish Tourist Board outlet on Buchanan Street for further discounted tickets.

Free Attractions

Glasgow is bursting at the seams with free activities. The city libraries run regular children’s workshops which anyone can get involved with. We recommend heading to the Mitchell Library (the city’s main venue) to enjoy its stunning architecture and busy program of events. Outdoors, try the West End’s Botanic Gardens. Completely free to all visitors, you’ll be taken on a tour of the world’s flora through a series of established greenhouses.

Museums are on the menu for all you bargain hunters too. Both the Kelvingrove Museum and Museum of Transport boast zero entry fees and fascinating exhibits. The Huntarian Museum is also well-worth a visit but beware, with an anatomy theme running through the place’s history, it might not be for the faint of heart!

Complementary WiFi

A great way to see the city is on foot but no one wants to get lost in a foreign place! Using a map app on your phone can be a great support and free city centre Wifi helps make it possible. It’s easy to access – simply connect to BT Wireless, wait for the webpage to load and confirm you’re online, and you’re good to go!

The majority of cafes, bars, restaurants and museums will offer free browsing too so make sure you ask for any passwords that may be required.

For low-cost high-quality accommodation, head to the official Ambassador Hotel website, where you’ll find the latest deals and best prices guaranteed – we can’t wait to welcome you to our home city!
